If Siddiqui failed to pay the amount, the unidentified accused allegedly threatened to harm him as well as his family members.

As per reports, messages sent to the BJP Minority Morcha chief even contain references to bomb blasts and targeted killings of senior Congress leaders. The accused claimed that the attacks will be carried out because those leaders had “disrespected” the sender.

In the threatening messages, the accused person has named several Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sachin Pilot and Uday Bhanu Chib.

In his complaint, Siddiqui has submitted several screenshots of WhatsApp chats, chat logs along with other digital evidence to the police.

The police have registered a case under Sections 308(5), 351(2), and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation and extortion, along with Section 66(d) of the Information Technology Act, IANS reported.

Further investigation in the case is currently underway.

Police is now tracking the origin of the mobile number and identify the sender through call record analysis, IP address tracking and cyber forensic examination.

“We are treating this seriously as it involves threats to a prominent political leader and mentions of possible violence. Technical teams are working to identify the culprit,” a police officer said.
